Art: I have resisted pursuing Art my whole life. On a trip to visit Grandma Hanken in Long Island, New York in May 2007, I bought a set of 18 Crayola colored pencils. And I started drawing. I don’t draw very often. But when I do, I am happier than ever.
Electronics: I am a computer programmer, I also have EE background. My husband and I spend most of our spare time making stuff. There are two electronic projects right now.
- Time Fountain: I like to call it Time machine because it creates an illusion that you can stop and reverse time. You add fluorescent dye to water so it reacts with UV LED lights. You make the LEDs flash as fast as the water drops. Water droplets will appear to hang in the air. You can also make LEDs flash faster than the water drops, that will make the water droplet appear to go upwards.
- Web-enabled Watergun: I started with the idea of making an automatic watergun which analyzes images, detects moving objects, and shoots water towards the target automatically. Then I decided to make it web-enabled. It will allow me to move the watergun and shoot the water from my website. I may add the automation part back to this project later.
